Anderson County and Local Bank Unite to Support Food Banks Amid Federal Shutdown |
Community Partnership Aims to Alleviate Rising Food Insecurity in November |
Anderson County has joined forces with a local bank to bolster support for area food banks throughout November.
This initiative comes in response to the federal government shutdown that began on October 1, which has led to a suspension of new funding for SNAP benefits for the 2026 fiscal year.
As a result, many low-income residents are facing increased challenges in accessing food.
Local food pantries, including AIM, the Good Neighbor Cupboard, and The LOT Project, have reported dwindling supplies and a surge in demand.
The partnership between Anderson County and the local bank aims to address this pressing need by providing additional resources and support to these organizations.
Community members are encouraged to contribute non-perishable food items and monetary donations to assist in replenishing the food banks' supplies.
Donations can be made at various drop-off locations throughout the county.
For more information on how to help, residents can contact the Anderson County Community Action Commission or visit their official website.
By coming together, the community can make a significant impact in supporting those affected by the current crisis. |
