Anderson County Museum Introduces Interactive STEM Learning Space for Children |
The Anderson County Museum has unveiled the “Spark Station,” a dynamic new exhibit designed to engage children aged two to twelve in hands-on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) activities.
This innovative space offers interactive experiences that complement local educational programs and provide unique learning opportunities for homeschooled children.
A highlight of the Spark Station is the “Spark Squad,” a monthly event held on the first Saturday at 11 a.m.
Each session combines storytelling with related STEM activities, fostering both literary and scientific exploration.
The exhibit is made possible through a sponsorship from Mergon Corporation, ensuring ongoing enhancements over the next three years.
Jim Hogg, Mergon’s manager, emphasized the importance of supporting STEM education to cultivate future technical leaders.
Executive Director Beverly Childs highlighted the museum’s commitment to integrating science and technology into its offerings, noting that Anderson’s nickname, “The Electric City,” makes the inclusion of a plasma ball particularly fitting.
The Spark Station represents a significant step in the museum’s mission to provide engaging, educational experiences for the community’s youth. |
