Anderson City Council Eyes Senior Housing Expansion |
Big changes may be on the horizon for Anderson’s East-West Parkway, as the City Council reviews a proposal that could bring 80 new low-income senior housing units to the community. The plan would annex 22 acres of land to accommodate this much-needed development, aiming to provide not just housing, but a real sense of home and community for older residents. The proposed community will feature accessible units, green spaces, and pedestrian-friendly design, which planners hope will create a vibrant, walkable neighborhood that encourages interaction and active living. With an aging population and a limited supply of affordable senior housing, this initiative comes at just the right time. Local leaders are enthusiastic about the potential of this project to fill a long-standing gap. If approved, construction could begin later this year, with move-ins as early as 2026. Residents and developers alike are hopeful this will be the start of a new era for inclusive housing in Anderson. |
