Anderson County Approves $331M Budget with No Tax Increase & Added Safety Resources

The Anderson County Council gave final approval to the $331.8 million FY 2025–2026 budget β€” and the best part? No millage (property tax) increase for residents.

The budget includes funds for new detention center officers and expanded support for the solicitor’s office, boosting community safety. It also sets aside critical funding for county infrastructure, schools, and parks.
County leaders praised this balanced budget as a milestone β€” one that maintains vibrant services without adding financial strain on homeowners, while still investing in safety, education, and future growth. It’s a bright sign of responsible, forward-thinking governance in Anderson County. https://www.andersonobserver.com/

πŸ—οΈ Battery Park: Anderson’s Bold New Gateway for Growth

Anderson is gearing up for a major transformation with the arrival of Battery Park, a dynamic 30-acre mixed-use development strategically situated off Exit 19 of I-85, between Clemson Boulevard and the highway. Designed as a hub for retail, office, commercial, and potential residential use, Battery Park is poised to become one of the region’s most exciting new destinations.

This prime location offers not only outstanding highway visibility and access but also state-of-the-art infrastructure. Threlkeld Boulevardβ€”a newly constructed roadβ€”has already been integrated into the Anderson County system. Utilities are fully established and ready to support the project, including Sandy Springs water, Anderson County sewer, and Duke Power electrical service.

What makes Battery Park even more appealing is its placement within a booming residential area. There are currently over 1,600 housing units within a 5-mile radius, with plans for an additional 2,200 units including luxury apartments and single-family homes. This development is perfectly timed to serve the growing needs of Anderson’s residents and visitors.

Other standout features include:

  • Full C-2 zoning and shovel-ready status

  • Signage rights along Clemson Blvd at a newly modernized SCDOT-lit intersection (2024)

  • High visibility and accessibility for local and national businesses

Battery Park represents the next chapter in Anderson’s evolutionβ€”a bold investment in infrastructure, commerce, and community life. It’s not just another developmentβ€”it’s a gateway to what’s next for the Electric City.

🌱 New Wave of Growth: Anderson Unveils Draft Comprehensive Plan

Anderson is taking a giant leap into the future with the release of its forward-thinking β€œPlan This City” draft comprehensive plan. This blueprint, now open for public review and comments, maps out a vision for the city’s next decade β€” and it’s packed with exciting possibilities. upstateforever.org

Highlights include:

  • β€œMissing middle” housing zones to increase walkable, mixed-density neighborhoods.

  • Updated zoning for pedestrian-friendly corridors, connecting residential areas to shops, parks, and transit.

  • A commitment to acquiring land for mini and neighborhood parks, bringing green spaces closer to more residents.

  • Enhanced transportation mobility, with improved sidewalks, trails, and street connectivity.

This plan allows locals to have a real say in shaping Anderson’s growth β€” from revamping downtown to expanding parks and mobility options. Public open houses and comment periods are coming this summer. Whether you're a homeowner, shop owner, or park enthusiast, this initiative is your chance to help craft the future of Electric City.
