Anderson nonprofit calls on local stylists to volunteer for monthly free haircut program serving community members in need
Anderson, SC — The LOT Project, a beloved Anderson nonprofit dedicated to serving those in need, is putting out an urgent call for volunteer hair stylists.
The organization needs licensed and experienced stylists to help continue their monthly free haircut program that provides dignity and care to community members facing hardship.
A Vital Service at Risk
For several months, The LOT Project has been running low on volunteer stylists — and the need is growing.
Once a month, the organization opens its doors to offer free haircuts to those in need, providing not just a fresh look, but a moment of dignity, connection, and care.
"We NEED your help," the organization shared on their Facebook page.

Founded in 2009 by Matt Beasley and Jason Ashley, The LOT Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based at 302 W. Market Street in downtown Anderson.
The name "LOT" stands for "Least of These" — a reference to Matthew 25:40 that guides their mission.
"The LOT Project seeks to cultivate intentional relationships with those in need, to build connections to the opportunities in our community, and to serve our neighbors in creative and empowering ways."
Beyond haircuts, The LOT Project provides:
• Meals and clothing to those experiencing hardship • Community gardens for food and connection • Intentional relationship-building to connect neighbors with resources
Why It Matters
A haircut might seem small, but for someone facing homelessness, unemployment, or other challenges, it can be transformative.
It's about more than appearance — it's about dignity, respect, and being seen as worthy of care.
The LOT Project's free haircut program embodies their mission of "serving our neighbors in creative and empowering ways."
By connecting skilled volunteers with those in need, they're building bridges across social divides and reminding everyone that they matter.
Spread the Word
Even if you're not a stylist, you can help by sharing this call for volunteers.
Tag a stylist friend, share the Facebook post, or simply tell someone who might be interested.
