Memorial Day weekend is officially here - which means graduation celebrations, community events, summer kickoff vibes, and plenty happening all across the Electric City.

 

This week’s newsletter has a little bit of everything: a one-of-a-kind 5K around a gas station in Belton, a magical prom focused on inclusion, major community planning updates, and another exciting milestone for The LOT Project right here in Anderson.

 

Plus… graduation season is here, pools are opening soon, schools are wrapping up, and summer in the Upstate is about to kick into full gear.

Town of Iva Memorial Day Event

📅 Date: Sunday, May 24, 2026
🕒 Time: Starting at 6:30 PM
📍 Location: Downtown Iva, SC
🎟️ Admission: Free

📄 Details: The Town of Iva invites the community to come together for a special Memorial Day event honoring those who gave their lives in service. The evening will feature a presentation by the Iva American Legion Post 44, live music from Band Silver, food trucks, inflatables, and a meaningful community remembrance ceremony. Music and festivities will continue following the memorial service.

KidVenture Splash Pad Opening Weekend

📍 Location: KidVenture Playground — Anderson Sports & Entertainment Center

📄 Details: Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, the KidVenture 2.0 Splash Pad officially opens Friday morning! Families can cool off and enjoy the newly reopened playground and splash pad area located on Jim Ed Rice Parkway at the Anderson Sports & Entertainment Center. Perfect for kicking off summer fun in Anderson.

As National Chip Your Pet Month comes to a close, Anderson County PAWS is helping local pet owners protect their furry family members with a special low-cost Microchip Day.

💲 Just $10 per microchip

❗ No appointment needed

 

Just stop by anytime between 10 AM and 2 PM — plenty of microchips will be available.

 

A few important reminders:
• Dogs must remain on leashes
• Cats must be in carriers
• Safety rules will be strictly enforced

 

Pet owners will complete a short form with owner information, pet details, and an emergency contact. Those wanting to save time beforehand can fill out the form online before arriving.

 

A microchip can make all the difference in helping lost pets find their way back home.

The Anderson Run Club (ARC) is hosting a Memorial Day 5K with a twist that local runners won't want to miss. On Monday, May 25, 2026, participants will gather at the Marathon gas station at 761 Anderson Street in Belton, South Carolina for a unique race experience — running 5K worth of loops around an actual Marathon station.
