The 2026 Annual Meeting featured the unveiling of the new General Road marker at Whitner and Main Streets
The Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce brought the community together for a memorable evening during their 2026 Annual Meeting, celebrating a major milestone in local history: the 200th anniversary of Anderson County.
A Night of Celebration and History
Against the backdrop of the beautiful Anderson County Historic Courthouse, business leaders, community members, and local officials gathered for an evening of festivity, networking, and commemoration. The event highlighted the rich heritage of the Electric City while looking forward to an exciting future.
Unveiling the General Road Marker
A centerpiece of the celebration was the unveiling of the new General Road marker, now standing proudly at the corner of Whitner and Main Streets in Downtown Anderson. This historic marker commemorates an important piece of local history and adds to the growing collection of heritage markers throughout the city.
The marker serves as both an educational tool for residents and visitors and a reminder of the deep historical roots that run through Anderson County.
Bicentennial Year Festivities
