ANDERSON, S.C. — For many people, landing a job is only half the battle... getting there is the other half. That's where The LOT Project comes in. This local nonprofit has been quietly transforming donated bicycles into life-changing resources for Anderson residents working toward employment and independence.

Bikes as Bridges to Employment

Over the past several months, The LOT Project has received occasional bike donations and they've proven to be far more than just two-wheeled transportation. For guests who land jobs but lack reliable transportation, these donated bikes become the bridge between opportunity and paycheck.

"When someone lands a job but doesn't have reliable transportation, a donated bike can help them get to and from work," the organization shared. It's a simple solution to a complex problem that keeps many people from maintaining steady employment.

More Than Just Transportation

The bicycles serve a dual purpose at The LOT Project. Beyond the practical need of getting from point A to point B, they've become a powerful incentive for guests working toward employment and greater independence. The promise of reliable transportation motivates individuals to stay committed to their job search and career goals.

How to Donate

The LOT Project is actively seeking bicycles in good, working condition. If you have a bike gathering dust in your garage or shed, the organization would love to put it to good use.

Drop-off times:

Mondays: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Wednesdays: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Simply bring your donated bike to The LOT Project's Donation Center during these hours. The organization, established in 2009, has a long history of serving the Anderson community and putting resources directly into the hands of those who need them most.

About The LOT Project

Founded in 2009, The LOT Project has been a steady presence in Anderson, providing support and resources to community members facing hardship. The bicycle donation program is just one example of their practical, hands-on approach to helping people build better lives.

Every donated bike represents more than just transportation - it represents possibility, independence and the chance for someone to show up, work hard, and build a future.

To learn more about The LOT Project or to donate a bicycle, visit their Facebook page or drop by the Donation Center on Mondays 4-6 PM or Wednesdays 11 AM-1 PM.
