A significant stride toward addressing Anderson's housing needs is taking shape with the construction of The Franklin, a $25 million affordable housing development.
Located at the intersection of West Franklin Street and South Murray Avenue, this project is a collaborative effort between Southeast Partners and the City of Anderson.
In May 2024, the city council approved the rezoning of 3.5 acres at this site to facilitate the development.
The Franklin is designed to provide 80 new apartments, catering to families earning at or below 20%, 50%, and 60% of the area median income.
The development will feature a mid-rise building with a split, three-story design, accompanied by adjacent surface parking. |
Unit configurations include 20 one-bedroom, 24 two-bedroom, and 24 three-bedroom apartments, with sizes ranging from 840 to 1,233 square feet.
Each unit will be equipped with appliances such as a dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, garbage disposal, and microwave, along with washer and dryer connections, ceiling fans, walk-in closets, and a combination of carpet and LVT flooring.
Community amenities encompass a community room, laundry facilities, playground, outdoor seating area, fitness room, and elevator access.
Construction is expected to be completed within 12 to 16 months, aiming to provide much-needed affordable housing options in Anderson.
