Rural King to Revive Long-Vacant Sears Space at Anderson Mall

Farm & home retail giant brings new energy to Anderson Mall with its second South Carolina location

The long-vacant Sears building at Anderson Mall is getting a major upgrade and a brand-new purpose. Rural King, a family-owned farm and home store, is officially moving into the space that’s been empty since Sears closed in 2018.

Known as “America’s Farm and Home Store,” Rural King offers a wide variety of items ranging from livestock feed and tools to clothing, firearms, and home goods.

This will be only the second Rural King location in South Carolina, following the recent opening in Spartanburg on October 17. The company, which started in 1960, has grown to over 140 stores nationwide. Its entry into Anderson is a big win for the local economy and for residents looking for a one-stop shop that blends the appeal of Tractor Supply, Academy Sports, and Ace Hardware.

With its wide offerings and family-friendly approach, Rural King is expected to draw shoppers from across the region and breathe new life into one of Anderson’s most prominent retail centers.
