Officials Urge Vigilance Against Recent Email Scams Targeting Residents |
Anderson County officials are alerting residents to a recent email scam involving fraudulent invoices from the Planning Department.
These deceptive emails, originating from addresses ending in "@usa.com," instruct recipients to wire payments to specified web addresses.
Authentic communications from Anderson County will always come from "@andersoncountysc.org" domains.
The Planning Department does not request wire transfers for payments.
Generally, Anderson County does not accept wire payments.
Exceptions are made only for substantial amounts, coordinated through the Treasurer's Office, and secured with two-factor authentication.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant against such scams.
If you receive suspicious emails claiming to be from Anderson County, contact the relevant county office to verify their authenticity.
