Thanksgiving is almost here, Anderson! The turkey, sides and pumpkin pie can add up fast, but several major retailers are advertising holiday dinners that cost far less than you might expect.

A recent comparison on NBC’s 3rd Hour of TODAY highlighted six Thanksgiving offers. We checked the retailers’ own 2026 announcements and there are a few important details worth knowing before you grab your grocery list.

The Thanksgiving grocery deal showdown

These are advertised national offers, not verified checkout totals for Anderson stores. Grocery baskets generally contain ingredients you cook yourself, while Sam’s Club emphasizes prepared foods and convenience.

Which deal is best for your family?

Lowest verified price per person among the cook-it-yourself baskets: Walmart’s $35 meal for 10 works out to $3.50 each. Its 26-item basket includes a Butterball turkey, stuffing, potatoes, green bean casserole ingredients and pumpkin pie fixings. The estimate uses an average turkey weight, so your final cart may differ. The offer runs October 28–December 24.

For shoppers who don't want a loyalty requirement: Aldi’s classic meal for 10 costs under $39, or less than $3.90 per person. It includes a 16-pound turkey, traditional sides and pumpkin pie ingredients. Aldi says no coupons, membership or loyalty card is needed. Some ingredients arrive on different dates, including turkey beginning November 4.

For six at the table: Target advertises $30 for six, or $5 per person, with a Butterball turkey up to 10 pounds, potatoes, cranberry sauce, green beans, stuffing and other sides. Its promotion runs November 8–29. Don't assume a pie is included: the retailer’s published meal list does not include dessert.

For Lidl shoppers: The retailer’s official price is $35.86 for up to 10, approximately $3.59 each, November 11–25. It includes a 14-pound turkey and sides, but Lidl Plus membership is required. There is no Lidl listed in Anderson itself; official store listings show locations on Woodruff Road and Wade Hampton Boulevard in Greenville. Factor in the drive before declaring it the best bargain.

For the smallest advertised total: Amazon Grocery has a $25 Thanksgiving selection featuring an 8-pound turkey and ingredients for sides and dessert. The company advertises free same-day delivery on qualifying $25 orders in eligible service areas through November 26, while supplies last. Its release does not specify servings, so a reliable cost per person cannot be calculated. We could not confirm Anderson-address eligibility; check your delivery address and cart.

For convenience over cooking from scratch: Sam’s Club offers about $160 of Member’s Mark foods for up to 16 guests, or under $10 each. It includes smoked turkey, ham, sides, rolls, a charcuterie tray and two pumpkin pies. It requires membership and about two hours of preparation, not zero work. Actual pricing and availability can vary by club.

Smart shopping tips for Anderson families

You don't have to buy every item in a promoted basket. If you already have flour, spices or cranberry sauce, skip the duplicates. Walmart and Sam’s Club specifically allow shoppers to customize their online carts.

Cherry-pick the weekly specials that match your menu. Compare unit prices and package sizes, not just flashy sale tags. A larger turkey or more generous sides might be a better value even when the total is higher.

Shop discount grocers early, especially for popular seasonal items. Check weekly ads and retailer apps, and remember that a separate drive, delivery fee or membership can wipe out a small savings advantage.

Before you head to the store

National advertising does not guarantee a particular Anderson-area location has every item or the same final total. Confirm your store, pickup or delivery address, current price, sale dates, inventory and any account requirements before shopping. Tax and delivery charges may be extra.

However you build your Thanksgiving menu, the best deal is the one that fits your table, your budget and your time. Here's to full plates, good company and a holiday that doesn't leave your wallet feeling stuffed!
